This was a song that we wrote during the pandemic, then started to play live as soon as music started up again. People kept asking us about it after shows, so we took a live recording of it from a recent performance on Austin Public Television to get mastered and put out. So technically this is a live performance, though we chose not to release it as a "live" single. The lyrics reference both covid-era ennui ("I've been working for the circus/when the circus is in town/it hasn't been here in a long time/so i've been hanging around") and the tendency of men to allow denying their emotions result in a kind of emotional violence ("Men use emotions/ they use em like shotguns").
